A statute in Section 230(c)(2) provides "Good Samaritan" protection from civil liability for operators of interactive computer services in the removal or moderation of third-party material they deem obscene or offensive, even of constitutionally protected speech, as long as it is done in good faith.
The problem lies with leaving it up to social media sites to decide what THEY deem to be offensive or hate speech.
Section 230 is not entirely a bad law, just poorly written and executed.
The law quite simply should not allow any kind of censorship and hold those who post illegal content responsible for what they post.
Social Media sites should therefore be held accountable for any censorship NOT deemed profane or otherwise illegal under Federal statutes and civil liabilities should be imposed if they do censor free speech.
I find it extremely disheartening that some members of Congress take an oath to support and defend the constitution of the United States, then violate that oath by enacting gun laws. In response to these illegal and unconstitutional acts, I would introduce a Federal 2nd Amendment Preservation Act.
There is a similar bill that has been introduced that eliminates federal funds from States that enact guns laws. However, I believe we should go further by holding those who even introduce such bills responsible by (1) immediate removal from office for violating their oath, (2) holding any law enforcement agency, federal or local, criminally responsible, and (3) allow for civil penalties to be invoked. The Bill would also hold the ATF equally responsible for violations and forbid them from interpreting or otherwise "writing" or "enacting" laws that don't exist or deemed unconstitutional.
Term Limits can be achieved through a constitutional convention per Article V of the U.S. Constitution or legislation. If elected, I would introduce a Bill to enact term limits on all members of congress allowing them to serve a total of 26 years in any elected office, after which time they would be ineligible to seek employment as a lobbyist or work in any position of political influence.
When it comes to infrastructure, priorities determine which functions receive attention and which are ignored or allowed to continue to decay. There is certainly no doubt that infrastructure on the St. Charles side of the river is better than that on the St. Louis side due to each county's commitment to infrastructure development.
Overall, the district could use improvements in Electrical Power, Schools, and the criminal justice system.
Regarding electrical power, residents of district 2 could see vast improvements in their lives as well as independence if they were to utilize solar power. Tax incentives could be made available to help homeowners make the switch to solar power.
Our children are our future and their education will determine how well they succeed.
It is our duty as parents to see that they get the best possible education.
School Choice is the best way to help parents achieve that goal.
One of the most important aspects of a free society is a safe society.
To be a safe society, we must hold criminals accountable for their actions.
Far too often, violent criminals are let out of prison too early because there is not enough room
in the prisons to hold them, thus the prison doors remain revolving doors. This is not fair to the victims of crime or society. More prisons should be built and longer prison sentences including mandatory minimum sentences for violent criminals to ensure the safety of society.
If elected, I will work on infrastructure plans to improve life for all District 2 residents through tax credits, grants, and federal funding.
Covid-19 and the government have wreaked havoc on small businesses.
While corporations like Walmart and Target have been allowed to remain open, small business owners have been hurt and some even forced to close their doors for good.
It is not only unfair but unconscionable that the government would make the decision which businesses get to survive and which ones don't. Anyone with a family to feed is an ESSENTIAL worker as well as any individual that works for a living. No government should be standing in the way of your right to thrive and survive.
Between December 2008 and December 2012
the Federal government bailed out the auto industry to the tune of $80.7 billion.
In the end, taxpayers lost $10.2 billion. The auto industry bailouts were due to poorly managed companies and they were deemed "Too big to fail". It seems only fair that small businesses be bailed out for losses and closures that were, through no fault of their own, due to government overreach.
I would work to seek bailouts for small business owners to the levels they were at before Covid-19 and also make zero-interest loans available to them if they decided they wanted to expand their businesses.
No child should have to attend a failing school system because of their socio-economic status or where they live. Parents should be able to choose from private, religious, charter, homeschool, or public school, regardless of economic standing.
I support school choice and letting parents decide what is best for their children through a variety of options that include School Vouchers, Educational Savings Accounts, Charter and Magnet Schools, Tax-Credit Scholarships, and Tax Credits and Deductions.
If Voter ID laws suppress voters, then the Real ID law does the same. After October 1st, you won't be able to get on an airplane without one. Are democrats claiming poor people don't need to fly? My voter integrity plan to stop voter fraud includes a Federal Voter ID utilizing the Real ID system and a few unique bar codes that can be used to prevent multiple ballots being scanned, multiple votes from a single voter and also track every ballot and the poll worker that issued the ballots. There's more to it being worked out. Stay tuned.
Holding an elected official accountable begins at the moment a person is elected to office.
I will be implementing a media group that will be responsible for holding regular "town hall" type meetings through many live stream services such as youtube and facebook with the purpose of being able to keep in constant communication with the people of District 2 so that we can evaluate where we are and what work needs to be done. I expect the people of district 2 to stay in contact and provide feedback so that I may better represent everyone living in the district.
I look forward to serving and thank you sincerely for your support.
